What I have been up to during lockdown

Ad – this is a paid collaboration

The UK has been in a completely unprecedented situation since the 23rd March, Lockdown. Those who are not key workers and such positions have been forced into isolation at home with their families or even by themselves. With it being reckomended to only go outside for exercise and essentials. These last few weeks have been terrible and hard on everybody. These are some of the things that I have been doing during the last few weeks of the Corvid-19 lockdown.

Home Working

There are quite a number of people that are fortunate to be able to work from home. This is usually those with a computer based workplace, and I am sure that this can change a lot of computer based work for several companies. This has allowed many people to still earn their living even whilst being isolated at home that many lose out on if not for the governments support.

That is what Emma is currently up to, working from home. Due to the nature of our business we work from home regardless. However currently due to the more extreme nature of this I am currently being a househusband. In this way I am actually supporting Emma better than if I was working. I am able to create a nice working environment for her and separate her from her work for her to relax.

Making the House Nice

I think that the majority of people in the UK have chosen the lockdown to finally get something or other sorted in their home. I am trapped at home I will make it nice or do that job my wife has been bugging me 6 months to do! That being decorating, renovating, garden work or anything else like such within their homes.

We bought our home back in December 2019 and although we love it we love it there were some choices that the previous owners did that were questionable.

Like carpet in bathrooms!

Since we moved in we have been slowly making this house our home and the way that we want it to be. Each room has been emptied, painted and then refilled once done. Picture frames and photographs have been hung.

Even gardening which isn't my strength is being done, digging cutting, weeding and such. Though there is still a lot of work to do but it is so much fun as well because it is putting our stamp on the place something we have never felt before.

I have painted that fence now and hung solar lights on it but there is a lot of gardening work left to do.

We both want to do raised flower beds but due to the lockdown wasn't able to get hold of the supplies we need. As such that is going to be something we install next year.

Doesn't help that my wife was claimed that ground now for her veggies either!

My parents have also been gardening like mad, though are thinking of a conservatory with glass roofs so they can enjoy the sun and outside without having to go out at same time.

Another big one that we want to do is redo our kitchen. The current kitchen although nice doesn't fully work for us so there are things we want to change. It isn't in the budget though for this year but that doesn't mean there is nothing that can be done.

We will be using vinyl on the counter tops and tile stickers for the back splash as well as painting the cabinets to create a new feel and look in the kitchen until we properly redo the kitchen.

Extra Money

No matter how much money is made it doesn't hurt to make a little extra. Thankfully there is still tons to do online to make money.

I have maintained using the receipt apps Shoppix and Receipt Hog. These apps allow you to upload your receipts for money or Amazon gift vouchers. Shoppix has also started to accept online receipts due to the current climate. This helps out a lot of people because of course we rely on online orders a lot more of course.

Airtimes Rewards is similar but is linked to your spending cards and will generate credit to take off your mobile bill. It is a reduction but it helps out a lot, some people can even make it completely pay their mobile bill!

I also have been using my favourite survey site, Prolific Academic, a lot more than usual. They are the easiest survey site to reach the payment threshold but also will rarely screen you out of a survey as they only show you ones applicable to you.
